Ingredients
  1. 125 grams (½ cup) butter
  2. 60 grams (¼ cup) vegetable shortening (Kremelta)
  3. ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  4. ½ cup white sugar
  5. 2 eggs, 2 tsp vanilla
  6. 1¾ cups flour
  7. ½ tsp baking soda
  8. ½ tsp baking powder
  9. ¼ tsp salt
  10. 1½ cups chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Cream butter, shortening & sugars until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time beating well. Beat in vanilla. Sift in dry ingredients. Add chocolate chips, keeping some for the tops. Measure out level ¼ cup of mixture, roll into balls & flatten. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top

  1. 250 grams butter
  2. ½ cup sugar
  3. 3 Tbs sweetened condensed milk
  4. ¼ tsp vanilla essence
  5. 2½ cups flour
  6. 2 tsp Baking Powder
  7. 200 grams chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 180ºC. Cream butter & sugar until light; add condensed milk & vanilla; then stir in sifted dry ingredients and chocolate chips. Roll into balls, flatten with a fork on greased tray about 4cm apart. Bake 20 minutes.

Ingredients
  1. 200 grams butter
  2. 1 cup sugar
  3. ¼ cup cocoa
  4. 1 egg
  5. 2 cups flour
  6. 2 tsp Baking Powder
Instructions
  1. Melt butter with sugar and cocoa. Col slightly & beat in egg with wooden spoon. Sift in flour & Baking Powder Mix. Using tablespoon measure, turn out balls on baking sheet (tray) & flatten slightly with potato masher (makes a pattern). Bake 180ºC/350ºF for 10-15 minutes.

  1. 250 grams (½ lb) butter
  2. 250 grams (½ lb) sugar
  3. 1 egg
  4. 375 grams (¾ lb) flour
  5. 1 tsp Baking Powder
  6. 1 tsp almond essence
  7. Almond pieces
Instructions
  1. Cream butter & sugar. Add beaten egg. Fold in sifted flour & Baking Powder Add essence. Place in ball on greased tray; flatten with a fork and place piece of almond on top. Bake 180ºC/350ºF for 15 minutes. Makes about 50.

Ingredients
  1. 250 grams (8 oz) butter
  2. 4 Tbs boiling water
  3. 2 Tbs golden syrup
  4. 2 small cups sugar
  5. 2 cups flour
  6. pinch salt
  7. 2 cups coconut
  8. 4 tsp Baking Powder
  9. 2 cups rolled oats
Instructions
  1. Put in a pot and melt gently: butter, water, syrup, sugar. Add this liquid to the mixed dry ingredients. Drop in teaspoon lots onto a cold tray. Flatten with a fork. Bake until golden approx. 20 minutes at 150ºC (300ºF). Makes about 80.

Ingredients
  1. 125 grams (¼lb) butter
  2. 450 grams (1 lb) flour
  3. 1 breakfast cup sugar
  4. 75 mLs (3 oz) milk
  5. 1 level tsp baking soda
Instructions
  1. Rub butter into flour. Bring milk to the boil and add soda then mix it into the flour. Roll out and cut into biscuits. Bake in moderate oven about 10 minutes.
  2. Aunty Rosie was one of Peter's great aunts.

  1. Cream butter & sugar, add eggs and beat. Sift in dry ingredients. Roll small amount into ball. Place on greased tray. Make small dent in each and put jam in it. Bake moderate oven (180ºc/ 350ºF) about 15 minutes. Freeze well.
