½ lb butter

1 lb flour

½ lb sugar

1½ lb mixed fruit

mixed spice

salt

baking soda

large cups of very hot milk
Instructions
Rub butter into flour. Mix in sugar, spice and salt. Add fruit & mix well. Dissolve soda in milk. Add milk & soda and blend. Bake in old square cake tin 1½ - 2 hours in moderate oven. Keep 3 days before cutting.
